Mable Tan is a Malaysian-born surface pattern designer, based in Melbourne, Australia. She’s a wife and mother to two beautiful souls – they are her sun, her moon and all of her stars. She loves whimsical, folk artsy and colourful patterns and is a bit of a Scandiphile – having traveled and lived in Sweden (Stockholm and Linköping) for about a year.
Her creative career started as a journalist, fashion stylist, travel writer, a fine art photographer and now, a surface pattern designer. Mable is constantly on the lookout for anything that catches her eye and makes her say, “Whoa…”. As an all-round creative person, Mable loves devoting her time and energy to creating beautiful things – either through words or pictures – as it gives her a sense of joy and peace.
Whether it’s photos capturing her world travels, colourful imagery or one of her whimsical pattern designs, she loves it when her art goes to a new home. She hopes that it brings the owners as much happiness as she enjoyed creating it.
Mable’s various works has been published in Flow Magazine (Netherlands), Good Housekeeping (USA), Sunday Style (Herald Sun), The Age, Sydney Morning Herald (Australia).
