Biography

KY COLQUHOUN, also known as Sunshine & Pineapples, is a creative artist who is affectionately referred to as Sunshine by those close to her. Much like her art, Ky likens herself to a pineapple, embodying a predominantly sweet disposition with a hint of a prickly sense of humour.

Ky and her crew proudly call Darumbal Country their home, where they live, work, and play in a laid-back, creative enclave on the East Coast of Queensland.

Her artistic inspiration for her prints and placement designs stems from photographs taken in their eccentric world, characterized by music, laughter, and abundant sunshine. Ky transforms these images through a combination of sketching and layering techniques involving watercolours, inks, and mark-making before transitioning them into the digital realm. This unique process infuses each piece with a distinct abstract, rock and roll, beach vibe, akin to the experience of enjoying cool tunes and laughter on a Sunday afternoon with the faintest touch of sand underfoot from one's last adventure.
