Before entering the art licensing world, the first decision you’ll need to make is whether you want to be
a character artist or a themed artist.

It’s a good idea to sort it out at beginning.
Both are licensable, the only difference is how you are going to promote yourself as an artist, as the marketing strategies for each style will be  very different.

So, what would you prefer

Character ?                           or                                  Theme ?

Have you reviewed your existing artwork?

Do you have a list (20-30 artwork) of your potential art for licensing?

We want you to take sometimes with this. If you decide what kind of art makes you jump out of bed because you can’t wait to get started, you will be on your way to live the  Business LifeStyle you love by following your creative passion.

Sometimes starting is the hardest part. We recommend you pick one theme – for this example, we will assume you are going to do themed art.

Just say you choose a Character theme. Have a think about where would you see your art, will it be good for the following

  • Wall paper?
  • Homeware
  • Greeting cards?
  • Wrapping paper?
  • Wall art
  • Quilting Fabric and more

If you keep certain products in mind, it will help you to create collections that are easier to license.
